The Download zip file includes 9 files:

Record count is for the February 2010 data

Zipcode.csv Zipcode, City, State -- Default Zips only 
42,012 records
ZipOther.csv Zipcode, City, State -- All other, non-default zipcodes (Does not include those listed in "NoDefault.csv")

BadZip.csv This contains list of zipcodes that are not valid or no longer in use.  (For reference only)

LatLon.csv Zipcode, Latitude, Longitude, Elevation (Degrees are in decimal degrees, to get Degrees Minutes Seconds -- click here)  NOTE: Elevation can be 0 when unknown.

 county FIPS, GMT offset, Daylight Savings Time Observed flag

States.csv State Abbreviation, State Name, State FIPS
62 records (Includes Guam, Puerto Rico, etc)
NoDefault.csv This file contains "A" (Acceptable) records that have no associated "D" (default) records.  See vcode for more information.

AppendZip.csv This is a subset of NoDefault.csv; it includes one record for each zipcode.  This should be appended to zipcode.csv to have a complete "view" of all valid zipcodes.

CSV is readable by Excel, and is a common import format.  Other formats available, on request, with the yearly subscription only.  These other formats can combine the data, and format it how you can best use it. (For example, we can combine Zipcode.csv+appendzip.csv for you.)

Bolded Items are only ones "promised" to be up to date & accurate.  
We try to maintain LatLon & County data as best we can.
